As many photographers say, I have always loved taking pictures. I was the one who carried a point and shoot in my purse and much to everyone's chagrin, have always wanted to document everything. I JUST threw away, when I was at my parent's house, an album of "Laura's Photography" I made in the 6th grade. I wish I had kept it.
I am an extrovert and thrive on being around people. I also love stories and am fascinated by everyone's life story. It is amazing how every single one of our stories contributes something to this world. I majored in Journalism, minored in Education, and taught middle school English, before life threw me for an unexpected, yet inspirational life detour abroad.
We moved to Ireland for two years, where for the first time I was not working full time and found, as much as you can with three young children, some free time on my hands. I was able to return to my love of writing and storytelling, and wrote on a personal blog daily, weekly about our adventures abroad. Not only was I writing, but I was photographing every detail of our lives in Ireland. I also began to connect with expat and full time travel families and loved reading their stories. As I delved deeper into the expat blogger world, I found myself drooling over beautiful photos of families and travel. Thus began my journey of teaching myself to shoot manually and I dove deeper into this wonderful world of photography.
For the first time in my life, I can say with absolute certainty that I LOVE what I do. Photography has given me the outlet to meet incredible people and capture them just as they are, in this chapter of their lives.
There should be no stress for a photo session! My goal is for it to be fun, relaxed, and as if we've known each other forever! If your children behave, great! If they act crazy, even better! Whatever happens naturally on the day of the shoot will allow for the best documentation of your life! I cannot wait to capture you and your family!
